The young poet Frederik confides in his shadow about his love for Princess Claudia. After all, who could be a more loyal and discreet friend? Frederik trusts his shadow implicitly, so one day he asks it to visit the castle in his place and see how the princess is doing. But the shadow also falls in love with Claudia, and from that moment on, he is obsessed with the idea of taking everything away from the poet.
