The actors of the Umorsk theater are already over 30, and they face natural life questions about prospects and self-realization for their age. When the director of the theater opens a nightclub on the small stage of the theater, calling it the "cabaret theater," the quartet decides to change their lives. Watching through a hole in the wall of the dressing room, which is adjacent to the newly founded club, young people study the structure of the institution and discover a safe with illegal money from the club's turnover. They develop an ingenious plan to rob the director during the performance and hope that they will finally find happiness and a new meaning in life. But things don't always go according to plan, and the director and the actors will have to face a serious problem after a seemingly successful adventure.
