At night in the city, Ayue, a day labourer, weaves through streets and alleyways to meet her boyfriend, Xiaokai. Neither of them has a steady job, nor have they ever planned for the future. Wandering through the city's many corners is the only certainty in their drifting lives. One day, Xiaokai disappears. No matter how hard Ayue searches, she cannot find him. It is as if he never existed. Disheartened, Ayue returns to her solitude. Yet gradually she begins to sense that someone has been watching her, forcing her to confront the hidden secrets of her own existence…
