Because of poverty, Atan is often mocked and bullied by his schoolmates. Due to poverty as well, Atan becomes discontent with his fate and grows up to be a very rude and self-centered person. Atan disrespects his parents, is ungrateful and stingy towards his siblings despite his family's difficult circumstances. An accident causes Atan to fall into a coma in the hospital, and during his coma he meets a child named Alif who teaches him about the meaning of life, which subsequently causes Atan to repent.
