

During the Republic of China era, a series of murder cases occur in Fuhong Town, including tomb-digging and corpse-whipping, the actress Wen Xiao'e who is buried alive, and the killing of the gentleman Mr. Jia. The opera troupe leader, He Jiu (Uncle Nine), assists the police officer Li Changqing in the investigation. It turns out that the former famous actress, You Wanqiu, had been wrongly put in prison because of Qu Ruidong. After being released, she carried out her revenge, forcing Qu to death, killing Wen and Jia, and finally committing self-immolation to atone for her crimes.
