Drama

A 17-year-old girl from Sri Lanka goes to work in Saudi Arabia to support her family. She ends up in a job she never signed up for. A trial she doesn't understand. A sentence beyond her comprehension. Will a group of human rights activists from around the world, led by London law professor Julian Miles (Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons), be able to save her? Introducing impressive debutant Vidhushika Ramaraj as the eponymous character, Rihana is a moving drama based on the case of one of the millions of vulnerable workers from South Asia - Sri Lanka, as well as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or the Philippines - who travel to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries to work as domestic or construction workers. There, they often have few rights and may face the harsh realities of Sharia law.
