Adaptation of J.M. Simmel's novel. We meet the main characters of the story, aspiring writer Richard Mark and his brother Werner. In a retrospective narrative, we return to the years of World War II, to a polarized society. Against the backdrop of history, we discover the emerging animosity between the two brothers, not only because of their professional motivations, but mainly because of the object of their shared interest—the attractive woman Lilien.
