Shard of brick; time capsule. A piece of 17th century industrialized earth is restored, scattered across a strip of film as a linear memento and artifact. A small chunk of brick that had been dislodged from a corner quoin is salvaged as memento. The shard is pulverized then photogrammed on old 16mm sound stock, processed, and run through a projector and manipulated. Originally commissioned for Close Up—Year 20 as a part of their anniversary celebration.
