Koyo is a story about how photography can both isolate individuals and connect total strangers. Isu, a lonely Korean actress who has been surrounded by photography her entire life, is contemplating suicide when Arlo, a restless photographer, takes her picture with his film camera. Initially appalled, she demands that he delete the photo, but he persuades her to reconsider after seeing the image he captured. She decides to spend the day with him to finish the film roll. As they take and develop photos throughout the day, they form an unexpected, quiet connection.
