
In the 1990s, Liu Zhiyong (Shen Teng), a small-time employee at the Meteorological Bureau, epitomizes the group of self-seeking intellectuals, but is instead a rebel in the iron rice bowl. Growing up in a patriarchal family, he always thought he could make a name for himself. It is at this time that Liu Zhiyong receives an invitation from a close friend to go to Xihai. Liu Zhiyong quits his job in the system and prepares to go to Xihai from the mainland to seek opportunities and to start crashing into all the established “orders”. Liu Zhiyong and three other young people gathered in the city of Xihai, in that era in the real estate industry in the ups and downs of the boom, their experience of the ups and downs of the three young people to break into the West China Sea, dare to take risks, looking forward to their youth to break into a better future, but gradually walking on the edge of the line in the radical.
