The film is based on the life of Nisakhan, a folk artist from Kuche County in Xinjiang. It chronicles her lifelong dedication to preserving Kuche folk songs while confronting conservative forces and religious extremism in the old society, showcasing her artistic contribution of collecting and compiling over 300 folk songs. Through the tragic love story between the protagonist and Tursun, the film traces Nisakhan's life journey—how she used art to resist oppression and, after liberation, celebrated the new China through her songs.
