Southern Italy, 1960s. Everything changes for the Bocchiarelli family when father Mario forces his wife Teresa to sell their small plot of land, the family's only source of income. With nothing left to live on, they left Italy. Being Communists, they were forbidden to enter the Americas. Out of spite, the Bocchiarelli family settled in France. Through the eyes of Ornella, a naive and enthusiastic 6-year-old girl, we experience the daily life of this family, with its many cries, tears and a few nascent dreams. As her family struggles to integrate, Ornella sings and confines herself to an imaginary bubble of hopeful poetry...
