Ej funktionstestad
Dan Wolgers
One day, I found a small painting by the shamefully underappreciated artist Lennart Rohde at an online auction. This painting caught my attention. Upon seeing this combination of information, which had so obviously not been tested for functionality. I doubled over with laughter and found the title to this exhibition. "Ej funktionstestad" ("Untested"). For the artists Jochum Nordström and Dan Wolgers, there has never been any alternative to art, be it tested or not. The preliminary work and the actual completion of a piece of art remain necessary steps in the creative process. Each work of art is an ongoing rumination - something significant. Just what is ruminated upon or significant in a the piece is up to the beholder of the artwork to discover. At the exhibition Ej funktionstestad, Jockum Nordström and Dan Wolgers are exhibiting sculptures and objects from the late 1980s up until today. The works in the exhibition are intended to reflect the idea of a dry, unadorned, humanist, historical and humorous Sweden - a kind of mental reflection of an average day which is also documented in printed form." (Carl-Fredrik Hårleman) Exhibition: Karlskrona konsthall, Sweden (15.10.-04.12.2016).
