In het voorjaar van 2019 beleeft de Iraanse Ali Banisadr (Teheran 1976) zijn Europese debuut met een museale solotentoonstelling in Het Noordbrabants Museum. Banisadr maakt furore met zijn schilderijen die wervelen van figuren en kleuren. De bonte werken refereren aan uiteenlopende invloeden; Perzische miniaturen, de werken van de Venetiaanse Renaissance kunstenaars Paolo Veronese en Tintoretto en het abstracte expressionisme. Ook het werk van Jheronimus Bosch, met zijn fantasievolle en gedetailleerde afbeelding van het kwaad, is van grote invloed.
